See the best of Auckland on this fantastic day tour.
Your full day Auckland tour begins with a guided tour of the Arataki Visitor Centre, situated in the Waitakere Ranges. Along the way, you will see hills in the distance, which are in fact remnants of ancient volcanoes. The height of these peaks force the prevailing Westerly clouds to "dump" their moisture there, causing a micro rainforest environment. The forest is something to behold, and you’ll be right in the thick of it. You’ll truly feel a world away, and yet, you are never anymore than a few miles from the heart of downtown Auckland! Breathe in the clean, crisp air of the Arataki Bush and Nature Reserve. See Auckland's two harbors, and the surrounding Auckland landscape.
Then enjoy a stop at Craftworld for half an hour, where you'll have the opportunity to shop for authentic New Zealand products. Next, enjoy wine tasting at an award-winning winery, where you will get to try numerous red and white wines, before enjoying a delicious included lunch at a local upmarket cafe or restaurant.
After your relaxing lunch break, travel further westward to Muriwai Beach. This area is steeped in history, and having seen the forest region that morning, you will really appreciate the stories your guide will share as you approach the coast. Almost at the cliff's edge, you’ll get an impressive view of the Tasman Sea. Usually there are some surfers braving the waters, and maybe some para-gliders catching the updrafts. You'll get your chance to wander down onto the black iron-sand beach later, but firstly your guide will escort you out to meet the wildlife. It’s a gentle walk to viewing decks to see the Takapu (gannets) who make their nests on the shoreline. This group of migratory birds (from Australia) are one of the very few colonies who nest on the mainland, and this has made this particular colony a world-famous site.
With so much to do in the wonderful city of Auckland, this amazing day tour will introduce you to new experiences, giving you a day of fun and exploration.
