Take advantage of this small-group adventure with an expert mountaineering guide and snowshoe hike through the winding and snowy trails as you learn about the flora and fauna of the Chilean Andes.
You will depart from your hotel early in the morning and leave Santiago heading east on your way to the mountain range. Your knowledgeable and expert mountaineering tour guide will choose the location that offers the best conditions for this activity, depending on the snow and weather conditions of the day.
The first stop is a small market, where you will stock up for the trek. Afterwards, you will arrive at the designated point where your hike into the Andes begins. Before you start the snowshoe hike, your guide will explain how to use snow shoes and how to make sure you do not waste your energy. The guide will make sure to give you all the necessary instructions so you can make the best out of this Andean walk.
After approximately two and a half hours of ascent, you will arrive at the area of Aguas Panimavida, where you will marvel at the hypnotizing landscape; scour the natural panorama for jagged snow-capped peaks and revel in the view of "El Morado" in the background, soaring 15,246 feet (4,467 meters) into the sky.
After walking deep into the Andean mountain range, you will stop for a box lunch while your guide tells you stories of the surrounding volcanoes and mountains. After resting in the heart of the Cajon del Maipo, your guide will lead the walk down back to the minivan, which will take you to San Jose del Maipo.
Once in town you will have an opportunity to feast upon a typical Chilean dish and revitalize with a glass of beer or refreshing juice before the drive back to Santiago.
