Spend your day at Pompeii and Sorrento, two sites that show off two very different sides of Italy. You'll travel back in time as you explore the ancient ruins of Pompeii before going back to the future in the modern town of Sorrento.

The ancient ruins of Pompeii were once part of a prosperous city before being destroyed by a volcanic eruption in 79 A.D. The city, buried under ash and rubble, was considered lost until it was rediscovered in 1748. Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the ruins are one of the country's most popular attractions; Pompeii receives more than 2 million visitors each year.
