You tour starts in the French built, capital city of Basseterre. Although French, you will also see the British influence on the island in the Georgian architecture, cobblestone streets, squares,and monuments.
Next, you will vist Caribelle Batik set on the grounds of Romney Manor. Using ancient Indonesian methods to keep the dye from reaching the material, Caribelle has created many designs for which they have become associated. During your visit, you will see the artists demonstrating the techniques while you listen to an explanation from one of the experts.
Then it is on to Brimstone Hill Fortress, a world heritage site. At the site, a video presentation on the fortress is shown. This magnificent fortress, sitting impressively atop 38 acres of limestone and sulphur composites, is the result of 100 years of slave labor and has endured many wars fought between English,French and Spanish troops, for its control.
From the fortress, your tour will return towards town via the Basseterre Caribbean Sea coastal road.
You will be dropped off at Kittitian Monkey Bar on Frigate Bay Beach. Upon arrival at the beach, you will be met at the bar, where sun, sand, a well stocked beach bar, a splash of local culture, and friendly people are some of the comforts you will experience.
After receiving your complimentary "Welcome Rum Punch" and beach chair, you will have approximately two hours to enjoy the sun, sand, and be inspired to do nothing buy enjoy. Local culinary dishes and cold beverages are available for purchase. Beach umbrellas can be rented for those wishing to zone out in the shade, there is usually a beach volleyball game going on and the wonderful blue Caribbean is just steps away for beach walking or cooling off. Nearby, there are ocean kayaks and snorkel gear available for rental to explore the offshore reef.
