The Lincoln Memorial celebrates the life and achievements of Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States. The Lincoln Memorial is a Greek Doric temple containing a large seated sculpture of Abraham Lincoln. Dedicated in 1922, it is one of several famous monuments built to honor an American President. The Lincoln Memorial includes impressive interior murals and inscriptions of two famous speeches, his Gettysburg Address and his Second Inaugural Address. The memorial was also the site of Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech, delivered in August of 1963. The architect of the memorial was Henry Bacon, the sculptor of the statue was Daniel Chester French, and the painter of the interior murals was Jules Guerin.
