Potomac River

The Potomac is a scenic river that runs from the mid-Atlantic coast to the Chesapeake Bay. The river is approximately 405 miles long making it the fourth largest river along the Atlantic Coast. The Potomac River forms the southwest border of Washington DC and offers spectacular views of the city. Between the Potomac River and the Washington Channel a very picturesque reservoir exists, called the Potomac River Tidal Basin. The Jefferson Memorial, Martin Luther King Memorial, and FDR Memorial are all situated on the Tidal Basin creating striking views. The Tidal Basin is a focal point of the National Cherry Blossom Festival held each spring drawing vistors from around the World. The Tidal Basin covers an area of roughly 107 acres and is 10 feet deep.
